The Dashboard is the central starting page of JAVLN.
It provides fast searching capability and easy access to all of your commonly performed business processes.
It also allows you to easily run reports and provides a variety of shortcuts that make JAVLN simple and convenient to use.
The Dashboard is highly customisable - so your page may look a little different to these images.
The Dashboard is made up of the following areas:
Header
The Header is the black section at the top of the Dashboard - and at the top of every other page.
![]() | At the left, the Pin button controls whether the Toolbar is always displayed, or only when you move the mouse pointer to the left edge of the screen. Press this button to toggle between these two settings. |
![]() | Clicking on the JAVLN logo will always return you directly to the Dashboard from any other page. |
To the right of the icon is an area which displays the names of the current workflow and the current page.
These is particularly useful for keeping track of where you are.
The example below shows this area from the Claims workflow - Claim Search page.
At the right end of the header you will find:
•the current date and time
•your username (this is a link which will take you to the Current User page where you can change your password and your email details)
•the Workflows panel link
![]() | Clicking this link will display a panel showing all of the workflows and starting points. Click anywhere on the background to return to the previous screen. |
•the Help link
![]() | Clicking this will display a panel giving you access to: ▪the JAVLN User Guide ▪the Page Help for the page you are currently viewing ▪help for any of the other pages in JAVLN |
Once in the Help system, you can navigate to help about other pages, and find out how to perform various tasks, by using the Table of Contents at the left of the page.
Click anywhere on the background to return to the previous screen.
Toolbar
The Toolbar is the area on the left side of the Dashboard - and every page. It contains the following buttons:
![]() | Dashboard - return to the Dashboard |
![]() | Workflows - start a workflow |
![]() | Reports - run reports |
![]() | Associations - examine links |
![]() | Emails - send and view emails |
![]() | Events - create and view events and notes |
![]() | Documents - upload and view documents |
![]() | Admin - change the configuration |
![]() | Logout - to exit |
See the Toolbar Tasks section for more details on each of these functions.
Portlets
The Portlet area is the central area of the Dashboard.
The Portlets provide easy access to important functions, such as searching for a client, accessing tasks and performing routine processes like creating quotes or lodging claims. There are a number of portlets available and this area of the page can be customised by each user. Portlets can be added or hidden, using the edit Portlet layout link at the bottom, and their order can be rearranged, by clicking on the yellow Portlet frame and dragging them in the desired order, so your page may look different from the example above.
Footer
The Footer is the black section at the bottom of the Dashboard - and all other pages.
![]() | At the right end of the Dashboard footer is the Edit Portlet Layout link. This allows you to add or restore hidden portlets and change the layout and text size. |
On other pages, the footer becomes an Action Bar contains the Operation buttons.
